MICROBIOME

Ovidio Bussolati is Full Professor of Pathology at the University of Parma, Italy. He got his M.D. in 1982 and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Pathology in 1988 at the University of Parma. His research is focused on the pathophysiology of membrane functions in human cells. Prof. Bussolati’s research group is currently investigating alterations in glutamine transport and metabolism in several models of human tumors, and perturbation of epithelial barriers, such as those present in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, by nanomaterials and molecules of bacterial origin.
